Ishq Jalebi ended on a super high note – This Ramzan Drama is the one to watch with romance, comedy and thoughtful messages rolled into one!
As I sat watching the final episode of Ishq Jalebi, I wondered, how will they wrap it up in one go? Who will lose out and who will win? Oh well, the drama had no losers, not even the audience. We smiled right though to the wedding and fans are already crushing on a season 2!

Planning For Your Family Before You Leave Them For Good!
Other than standout performances from the entire cast, we want to give a huge shoutout to Saima Akram Chaudhry for making us think about distribution of wealth & inheritance amongst our children, that although shariah might be one way, we can take a decision in our lifetime too – A very wise & heartfelt script indeed.
Bau Jee’s character displayed wisdom, foresight, and loads of love, all tempered to the right degree. From resenting his sons for leaving him to settle abroad, to showering love on Bela (and anger) on Basim, he showed many elders in the family how to strike it right.
Rule with an iron hand, but keep your heart in the right place.
I did wonder how Saima jee will wrap it up neatly, but she did. It was heartening to know that Bau jee did not let his anger get the better of him when distributing his wealth. His decisions were balanced, just and so heartening.
His elder son’s (Rafaqat’s) dialogues that we don’t take away from our daughters, touched my heart immensely.
It re-inforced my belief that although God has given us a formula for wealth distribution, we are at liberty in our lifetime, to manage our affairs and put them in order before we exit the world. Great message that!
Romance With A Flair!
And of course, no one does romance better than Wahaj Ali & he showed us how yet again!

But how does he do it? It’s not OTT, no cheap feels, no long, drawn out silent gazes or cheesy dialogues … Wahaaaaj Ali you are romance king number one! Now that you’re back, ahem … (in the entire drama), your fans are shouting for more! Match that will you? Because we can hear them from the rooftops!
Madiha Imam aced it for adding the charm to Bela. Her character, mind you, was not an easy one to play. She was the one waiting in the shadows, she could not act, change the course of events or blurt her heart out – Bela also set exemplary (perhaps sky high goals – for a younger and older generation to follow through! Madiha carried her role admirable and the chemistry between her and Wahaj was all fans could dream of!
Come last episode and we got everything we pined for – love, laughs, wedding bells and more love!
The Laughter Was Real!
Comedy has a newly-crowned queen in Irsa Ghazal. Sajjo’s Sialkoti Toronto accent had us rolling on the floor. Her online shopping escapades were hysterical and she carried the show on her very comic shoulders with an act that’s going to be hard to beat!
I have to say, my Punjabi language skills have jumped up by leaps and bounds due to the colorful vocab rolling out onscreen with every episode!

Gulfam & Rocket were a surprising breath of fresh air btw! If Irsa jee wasn’t enough, Rocket and then Chaudhry Gulfam added to the laughter. Great caricatures, super lovable and super laughable – no, I am not exaggerating – you have to watch Gulfam slip an Aloe Vera plant to Isha, or Rocket feeding Jamal Ghota to the family to know why I fawn so!
Mohammad Qavi Sahib played a strong hand as ever – one moment, moving us to tears, & another, making us smile. It would not be wrong to say that we cannot imagine him as anyone other than Bau jee – so complete was the characterization, so polished, so believable and so on point!
Hina Khwaja Bayat & Noorul Hassan were just love! One made us feel she lives in our homes, the other made us laugh out loud, especially when battling Sajjo maami – such a wonderful interplay there, I can watch it all over again, and again!
Covid Feels
Lastly, the spotlight on #Covid_19 throughout the drama was just spot on! Pakistanis battling Covid and Ishq jalebi were one and the same – a family caught between hand sanitisers and planning weddings – sound like a paradox? Yes, it was, but then, that’s us, right? The drama also raised awareness throughout the show, with repeated gentle reminders to wear a mask, use sanitisers, stay safe and home!
And it’s a wrap! Thank you Wajahat Hussain & Har Pal Geo for a Ramzan drama that made us smile, in fact, laugh our way through Ramzan & Eid. Will we be getting a season 2? Welll, not sure about that one, but do we not want to know more about Chaudhry Gulfam and Vicky’s love interest? Keep hoping folks, anything is possible!
Absolutely 💯 true I really enjoyed watching Ishq Jalebi. everything was just perfect from story to execution. love to watch Wahaj and Madiha again in season 2
