Week Ending: 17 April 2020
(A Veristic Take On Life Of Newly Weds?)
Melodrama, conspiracies and domestic politics- I never thought that I would have to describe SAAKK in all of these words but it seems that the news of the show ending has not only adversely affected the fandom but also the writers.

This week’s episodes of Shaurya and Anokhi ki Kahani followed the path of a typical Indian show and I can say with surety that most of the fandom wasn’t pleased with it. SAAKK has developed a loyal fan base due to its unique plot and execution of the storyline but this week proved it all wrong.
The primary focus of this week’s episodes was Bari maa becoming the typical saas that most desi dramas have at one point or another. It seems like she’s made it her life’s purpose to ensure that her son and daughter-in-law are never happy. While on the other hand, the perfect daughter-in-law does it all to please the family. Well, in this case, we have our not so average heroine who does not surrender to what’s thrown at her, instead (surprise surprise!) uses the voice she has to take a stand for herself. Yet, the continuous loop of conspiracies became vexatious only making us wish that the episode would end.

And on top of that, the most disconsolate thing of all was seeing Shaurya and Anokhi fight in every other sequence. We understand that the makers want to show us a realistic depiction of a newly wedded couple’s life who, when hit with reality, often find that love is not enough to carry things on.
The career and family pressure, constant advice from others, difference in opinions and at times, lack of communication are a few problems that all couples face at one point in their marriage. Furthermore, another thing that was highlighted is how they failed to address the elephant in the room and due to their egos weren’t ready to accept their mistakes and let go.
And credit to where it’s due – Shaurya’s parents and Anokhi’s sister and ACP Ahir who tried to mend the differences between them rather than adding fuel to the fire. This was another insight into how couples seek the comfort of their loved ones when they find it hard to resolve issues on their own. Had SAAKK been running for a longer time period I am sure the makers would have touched upon many significant and yet relatable issues faced by many couples.
We do understand that the writers were trying to put a genuine point across however knowing that SAAKK will be ending in two weeks time I can speak on behalf of the whole fandom that we want more SAAKK moments that we can dote on.

Nevertheless, this week Debattama was the star of the show. She nailed her performance as Anokhi when she juggled to give her exams, apply for a job and still managed to do her house chores. All the scenes were well executed giving viewers insight into the life of a working woman and also how a modern married couple juggles the numerous responsibilties in their life while trying to capture the meaningful moments they can in between.
As the next week will, unfortunately, be the last week of the show we hope that they handle the molestation issue with grace and dignity so that it does not feel rushed and is properly resolved while also giving SHAAKHI enough scenes as a couple. As we eagerly wait have a look at this week’s tweets:
