As I write this and note down the songs, it’s raining in Islamabad and the sound of rain is so calming, it blocks out the rest of the world, making you want to sit down, close your eyes and relax. Some people may grab a book and read, while others may find themselves with a cup of chai or coffee. Then there’s me. Never been much of a reader and having a cup of chai/coffee really just depends on my mood.

My perfect rainy day consists of me being upstairs, watching the rain and listening to songs. And at times all I do is walk in the rain.
Let me tell you, my playlist consists of a mix of songs – Soothing, a little bit sad and happy. Weird, I know! So Here’s my perfect rainy day mini playlist!
Starting Off With Some Urdu Tunes
1. Laiyan Laiyan – Rizwan Anwar
This has to be one of my favorite version of the song. Recently went on a road trip and listened to this on repeat. Safe to say everyone else loved it too!
2. Chan Kithan – Ali Sethi
Heard this one a few years back but I keep finding myself listening to it again and again. Its vibe really goes well with the rain too!. What do you think?
3. Baari – Momina Mustehsan & Bilal Saeed
I think we can all agree it’s one of those songs you can listen to, over and over and not get tired!
4. Humraah – Asim Azhar
My playlist is incomplete without an Asim Azhar song. Top favorites are Sohneya, Ghalat Fehmi but I just have to listen to Humraah at least once!
5. Akhiyan – Daniyal Zafar
During quarantine, Danyal Zafar a.k.a. Danny Zee, came out with many songs. My rainy day pick from him would be Akhiyan. There’s something about the song which has you have it on repeat!
Coming To Some English Beats!
1. Lovers – Anna Of The North
Heard this one in the the first installation of ‘To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before‘. I like its vibe and there’s something different about it, can’t exactly point out what it is but whatever it is, makes it more amazing.
2. Heat Waves – Glass Animals
This ‘Never Have I Ever’ track has been playing since season 2 came out. You can’t help but smile while listening to it”
3. Billionaire – Bruno Mars
Was the playlist coming off as a bit slow? Jam it up with ‘Billionaire’. An evergreen song indeed!
4. Willow – Taylor Swift
Willow is soothing and perfect for a rainy day! Taylor Swift never disappoints, does she?
5. This Is What You Came For – Rihanna & Calvin Harris
Top it off with good beat! This Is What You Came For will surely have you dancing in the rain! As I listen to this or any other Rihanna song, I secretly wish she’d surprise us with a new album soon!
Which one of these is your favorite? Which song do you listen to on a rainy day? Let us know!
