The most sought-after first look of Pakistan’s beloved singer, Atif Aslam, in Sang-e-Mah has finally been released. Sang-e-Mah is a highly anticipated project not only because it is a sequel to Sang-e-Mar Mar, but also because Atif Aslam is making his TV debut with this drama. The poster was revealed on Momina Duraid Production & Hum TV’s official Instagram handle.

Atif Aslam is donning a sinister look sitting on his black throne which has us all intrigued as to what his character would entail. The name or description of his character has not been released but it would be interesting to see if he can play a grey or villainous character. Whatever it is, we are sure all die-hard fans of Atif Aslam are biting their nails in anticipation.

Sang-e-Mah is penned by Mustafa Afridi and directed by the highly celebrated Saife Hasan. With this talented duo calling the shots, Sang-e-Mah is bound to leave a mark on its audiences, just like Sang-e-Mar Mar. It is expected to air on HUM TV either by the end of December or early January next year under the umbrella of Momina Duraid Productions.

The Cast

Besides Atif Aslam, we will be seeing another newbie in the project, Zaviyar Ejaz, who is Nauman Ijaz’s son. We are currently watching Zaviyar on Qissa Meherbano Ka. Hania Amir will also be seen in the drama. Besides these three, the lead cast will remain the same as Sang-e-Mar Mar which includes Nauman Ijaz, Sania Saeed, Umair Rana, and Kubra Khan. The story, however, will be completely different.

Story

Speaking to FUCHSIA, Saife Hasan revealed that Sang-e-Mah is an issue-based story about Pashtun tribal areas. The story revolves around a long-standing tradition called “Ghagh” which means “Ailaan” in Urdu. The tradition involves forcing girls to marry men who have made an “announcement” or a “call” to marry them against the girls’ will. According to Saife Hasan, the tradition still stands in some areas and the drama aims to shed light on the issue.

We cannot wait for the trailer to release so we catch a glimpse of the story a little more. So far, we are loving Atif Aslam in a completely different avatar and are very excited to see what he brings to the table. What about you?
