The classic novel’s readers are particularly iffy about it turning into Pakistan’s first Netflix show, find out why….

We asked you guys on Instagram stories what you loved about the novel “Jo Bache Hain Sang Samait Lo” and you guys made your due points. Currently, Pakistani entertainment industry is in a frenzy about a possible first ever Pakistani Netflix show based on the classic novel by Farhat Ishtiaq. Reports and the buzz claims the Netflix pilot will be starring top of the line Pakistani actors – Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Hania Amir and even Sanam Saeed.
What mettle does the novel carry? A novel some 10 years ago will be able to capture audiences attention and be able to hold its own among a storm of Netflix content? Is it a diamond in the rough, waiting to be brought to the world representing Pakistan’s content potential? What makes it so special – we wanted to know it all. What did readers love about it, what were their favorite characters and what were some things we perhaps hope to be changed up in the Netflix show?
A Must Sneak Peak
Through the protagonist, Sikandar’s character will the series set out to change gears in the nation’s entertainment landscape with a more central focus on a man’s mental, emotional and physical traumas he suffers from, than primarily revolving around a woman’s emotional struggles? The novel Jo Bache Hain Sang Samait Lo essays the turbulent, romantic journey of a broken and mysterious Sikandar and a cheerful yet persistent Liza set in Italy while also casting a wider lens on Sikander’s turmoils and past with a romance that may wither and bloom all at the same time in the land of dreamy love (Italy) with twists and incidents you will never foresee. Without spoiling it too much for you let’s divulge into why readers deem it a hard to put down classic:
One thing is irrefutable, people really do love the novel and consider it one of the best pieces of literature in the country.
1. Take Us To Italy Or Nothing
Fans of the novel are very particular, they opine if the novel will actually be turning into Pakistan’s first Netflix show it better be exclusively shot in Italy and Pakistan or even the British capital won’t do. Nothing less than perfect will be acceptable. They got to do it right. After all, a big part will be romanticizing living in Italy.
2. Not Another Great Novel Turned Into A Debacle
Readers reminisce the emotional roller coaster the novel was and that it not fall prey to the catastrophes of half hearted efforts converting the book into a series. The series must be able to hold on to the darkness the novel portrays and ensure the essence is not lost. Seemingly audiences are still begrudged since the rumors are circulating, pointing to the “debacle” they claim makers turned the novel, Hum Kahan Kay Sachay Thay into and blew up the core essence – a deeply ingrained comparison as to how even Umera Ahmad’s Hum Kahan Kay Sachay Thay was offered as a sacrifice! They refuse to be subjected to the same again.
3. A PSA
Readers also offer a PSA with future audiences pointing at certain circumstances in the novel which would contribute to some or considerable flak as it shows some extremities. Readers have hinted at controversial scenes in the novel, will they be presented with the same care and thought in the series or will we be subjected to another insensitive plot? Some also point out if it will be another case of women tending to men with fragile egos and trekking the journey to fix/heal them because it’s high time women are freed of the responsibility to be healers and fixers for everybody else but themselves.
4. Hope For Casting
Readers of the classic are unfalteringly decided, whoever ventures out to play Sikandar shall have the grit and talent to portray the heavy/complex feelings and emotions of his life. As for the casting rumors, viewers of course don’t seem to be questioning rumored Fawad Khan’s casting as Sikandar as he has proven his acting record to be stellar, Mahira Khan might be a great choice for Liza being a hopeless romantic herself. She just radiates Liza’s energy as per readers.
What are you most excited or iffy about? Will the drama live up to the novel’s hype?
