Unleashing the Unconventional! Trailer of ‘Idiot’ Triggers Thoughtful Discourse on the Role of Misfits in Society
Ahmed Ali Akbar has made a comeback to our TV screens, but this time with a different role in the upcoming drama “Idiot”. After blowing away audiences with his performance in “Parizaad“, where he shared the screen with Yumna Zaidi, he is now set to intrigue us alongside Mansha Pasha. With his versatility as an actor, and selective work choices, fans are eagerly anticipating his new role and what he will bring to the table in this exciting drama.
About The Drama Idiot
The drama “Idiot” is a collaboration between Entanna Productions and Multiverse Entertainment. It is directed by Anjum Shahzad and written by Kifayat Rodani. Cast includes, Mansha Pasha, Saleem Sheikh, Atiqa Odho and Shamyl Khan. Furthermore, the two OSTs for the drama series, “Haklata Kyun Hoon” composed and sung by Sahir Ali Bagga and “Farq Nai Painda” by Majid Akhter Maan, both written by Imran Raza, aptly capture the distinct characteristics of the protagonist Ahmed Ali Akbar, also, apparently labeled as the “idiot” in the show. Green Entertainment recently unveiled the first official look and trailer of the drama.
Laal Kabootar Couple Is Back!
Ahmed Ali Akbar has appeared earlier onscreen with Mansha Pasha in the film Laal Kabootar and we look forward to seeing the duo once again onscreen. There is an element of romance between the two as suggested by the trailer. Possibly a parting of ways too, and hopefully, as romance buffs, we hope, a reunion as Ahmed Ali Akbar’s character navigates a journey which seems strewn with multiple challenges.
Critical Analysis Of The Trailer
The trailer playfully depicts Ahmed Ali Akbar in the lead role as an individual who has always been labeled an “idiot.” The story seems to revolve around a misfit, rebel, and thinker who challenges societal norms and questions the system since his childhood. Thus, the protagonist fights for a more just world, making “Idiot” a compelling narrative. Moreover, it seems from the first look that the main lead is often deemed an outcast due to his audacity, straightforwardness, deep contemplation, and unwavering honesty – one is moved to question (after watching the 2 minute trailer, if there are some like him amidst us, whom we label in a similar manner perhaps, or we encourage them not to speak the truth or, beyond more wordly?)
Upon watching the trailer, one is left pondering a significant question: in a society that often perceives misfits and astute observers as unintelligent and ‘out of place’, is being an outsider a positive or negative trait? Hence, the drama presents a scenario where individuals who question the minor yet critical conditioning in our daily life are portrayed as irritating or insane, and consequently labelled as “idiots.” This raises the question of whether such derogatory labeling is justified for those who possess a unique perspective on the world around them.
Lastly, the well-crafted lyrics & captivating beat of the OSTs keep the audience engaged. While “Haklata Kyun Hoon” is a lively track with a unique sound, “Farq Nai Painda” exudes a sense of optimism and hope for society.
The drama is expected to air in April on Green Entertainment, written by Kifayat Rodani and directed by Anjum Shahzad.
