Week Ending: 24th July 2021
(Bidding a heartfelt farewell!)
This week the last episode of SAAKK aired on television, leaving most of the fans feeling desolate and dispirited. And they surely had a reason to feel that way! Shaurya and Anokhi Ki Kahani was a show that bound us together on common ground and offered the audience a unique takeaway.

The plot line was not only unique but also relatable on many levels with the audience. The show gave a fascinating insight into the world of two different individuals and their growth together. It was not only limited to that and we saw how the show’s horizon expanded into talking about several social issues through all the characters in the story.
This week was no different.
Emphasis On The Significance Of Family

The show has from the beginning highlighted the significance of family and all the relationships in an individual’s life. By showing Shaurya and Anokhi’s bonding with their parents and other family members they stressed the pivotal role of relationships. Even in the end, they stressed how important it is to have family around. The last scene where they all sitting together for a meal and take a selfie was refreshing to see.
Women Can Have It All!

In the end, Anokhi holding a trophy with her classmates was a scene of great significance. Though the scene was merely a few seconds long, it was able to comfort the viewers that Anokhi will continue to pursue her dreams of getting a great education and a successful career and will be fully supported by Shaurya.
Even in the last few shots, SAAKK was able to maintain its uniqueness by subtly incorporating the message of female empowerment.
Molestation, False Accusations & More
Although, I was a bit sceptical at first when they introduced the track of harassment in last week’s episode as I felt that the track might not be well handled and such a sensitive issue might not get the right treatment, I was definitely proven wrong! Not only was the issue handled plausibly but it set the core foundation for the dynamics to change in the Sabharwal family. It was challenging to believe that Bari Ma and the others will be able to change perspectives so swiftly and their long-held beliefs and accept Anokhi. However, getting such a big blow from their loved one did teach an important lesson to them and makes the whole changing of perspectives believable.
On the other hand, Bubbly di and ACP Ahir’s track was greatly developed. The fact that they decided to be the backbone for each other and remain friends was another refreshing concept. After Anokhi, Bubbli di’s character is an example to follow; she fought her way through an abusive marriage and stood on her own feet. Through her character, makers were able to define what women empowerment actually means.

SHAAKHI – Couple Goals
Now talking about our very own SHAAKHI! Well, they once again won our hearts as they always do. Throughout this week they took us with them on a journey where we were able to connect with them. The way they want the best for each other and are willing to sacrifice all to make each other happy is beyond appreciable. What makes their relationship so loved by all is the element of respect and trust they have. Even in the hardest of times they didn’t let go of that and silently continued to support one another.

The last few moments shared between Anokhi and Shaurya have our hearts. Kudos to the writers and director for making this so memorable for all of us. The revisiting of all of their memories from the beginning when they first met in college to their wedding and all the other interactions in between was beautifully captured. Additionally, the fact that they shot the last scene in SIAC -the college where it all began for them- felt like a whole journey came to completion!
Bidding farewell to this show is harder than anyone can expect and surely all the fans can understand this. Debattama Saha and Karanvir Sharma will be deeply missed as Anokhi and Shaurya and we can only hope that there is a season 2!
