The Perfect Movie Marathon With Team FUCHSIA This Valentine's Day!

Team FUCHSIA got together for this one and pooled in with their favorite movies. So let’s see what the movie marathon holds!

1. The Hating Game

the hating game
credits: variety

The Hating Game is the perfect movie to watch when you’re bundled up at home on Valentine’s Day. The book to movie adaptation follows the typical enemies to lovers story. Sounds a bit cliched but stay with us. The plot is fairly easy to follow and while there are no major plot twists, the movie still makes for an engaging watch.

Lucy Hale and Austin Stowell (the main leads) do justice to their characters and their character development will have you swooning for more!
From work place animosity to appearances of Smurf figurines (which we haven’t seen since the 90s), the movie delivers on all aspects and is a must watch this 14th February!

2. To All The Boys – The Trilogy

Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky – the fictional teen couple everyone fell in love with instantly! Lara Jean with her true hopeless romantic self and innocence, Peter with his oh-so-dreamy personality and charm won us over.

From the first film to the last, we counted the days and… spoiler – cried because it ended too soon! Yes that’s the effect it has! The teen mind, behavior, attitude and how they tackle the issues that come their way really make us think about the smaller, yet significant things.

To All The Boys is the perfect trilogy to binge-watch this weekend and on Valentine’s Day. If you haven’t watched it, it’s worth your time!

3. Meenakshi Sundareshwar – More Close To Reality Than You Think

Meenakshi Sundareshwar

It is a story about a newly wed couple, Meenakhshi (played by Saniya Malhotra) and Sundareshwar (played by Abhimanyu Dasani), who have to live apart due to the husband’s work obligations. It is a light, romantic, feel good movie, directed by Vivek Soni, which depicts the priorities of today’s young couples and the challenges they face trying to manage what they want to achieve in life and preserving their relationship. The film also gives us heart melting, hummable melodies for you to sit back and enjoy on Valentine’s Day.

If you are looking for a movie that will make you smile, warm your heart with a sprinkle of romance and also connect with you on a deeper level, this is the one to check out.

4. Pretty Woman – The Ultimate 90s Rom-Com

This one has us every time despite the many years since young Julia Roberts and Richard Gere share the screen, giving us performances of a lifetime and a film for generations to come!

Pretty Woman follows Vivian Ward and Edward Lewis and the story of how how their paths cross. The unexpected turn of events, their banter, Vivian’s innocence and Edward’s non-commitable behaviour and the subsequent realization that he loves her – it’s safe to say, it’s a win win for sure

Fun fact: The film features the song ‘Oh, Pretty Woman’ by Roy Orbinson, to which Roberts gives the perfect playful vibe. Get it from us, you’ll find yourself grooving to it too!

5. A Star Is Born – Passionate, Raw & Tragically Romantic

Jackson & Ally singing Shallow is all I need to feel eternal love! Bradley Cooper & Lady Gaga positively shine in this movie. It transcends & peels away superficial layers of romance & reaches out to the very core of what makes us sacrifice for love, and whom we hold dearest to our hearts.

A Star Is Born is not just a heavy watch, it is a very, very heavy watch. Miles away from the rom com feel, this one means business. But the film stays with you long after the final scene. There is a haunting tragic romance feel in every frame – Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper mirror pure, untainted, yet relatable love!

It is also interesting to note that Bradley, (who directed the film as well as playing the lead), underwent extensive vocal coaching for this one. You can catch all of that as he sits opposite & then beside Lady Gaga to belt out the Oscars version of Shallow – absolutely mind-blowing, tearful & so very powerful!

A Star Is Born Reminds Us What We Are Capable Of Doing For Love – There is a ‘selfless’ in all of us

6. The Notebook – A Classic Forever Close To Our Hearts

Narrating the tale of two young lovers, The Notebook is a 2004 film directed by Nick Cassavetes and is written by Jeremy Leven and Jan Sardi based on a 1996 novel by the same name, penned by Nicholas Sparks. It is the story about a poor limber mill worker, Noah Calhoun (Ryan Gosling) and a young heiress, Allison Hamilton played by Rachel McAdams. When Allison comes to visit Seabrook Island with her parents for the summer, she catches Noah’s eye, who eventually pursues her and this marks the beginning of their romance.

Later, separated by Allison’s family, they find each other after years of being apart but they discover that their love for each other never grew short. With a lot of heart breaking twists and a handful of nostalgic scenes, The Notebook is the perfect movie to watch this Valentine’s Day to feel that everlasting love!

7. Tamasha – A Unique Take On Love

tamasha
credits: imdb

It doesn’t fit the quintessential “romantic movie” that you would typically go for. It does have romance, just not how we are used to seeing it. It takes us into a way deeper place.

Tamasha takes us on a journey of two people in love who bring out the best out in each other. It depicts perfectly how love is not always rainbows and butterflies but love is when you let your partner be who they are, in fact, help them recognise who they are and give them the courage to be who they want to be – and that’s the beauty of it. You fall, you get up and always find a way back to each other because that’s the one place you’re the happiest.

8. Love, Rosie – Fall In Love All Over Again

Love, Rosie is a very emotional and twisted love story of two childhood best friends, Rosie (Lily Collins) and Alex (Sam Claflin). The two go through many downfalls individually but never give up on each other because of their true friendship and hidden sentiment – love.

love, rosie

The film has hidden layers, a deeper meanings which are:

  1. Your one mistake can ruin your plans, but you should not give up.
  2. Sometimes, everything we need is right in front of us, but we fail to realize it soon.
  3. If you love someone, tell them before it’s too late.
  4. It’s perfectly fine & never too late to start your living life according to what makes you happy.
  5. If real love exists, it will eventually find its way.

The spectacular cinematography and the chemistry between the two best friends are so close to reality. It’s a must-watch movie if you think, you are in love with your best friend!
