She mentioned that all the actresses would go to each other’s rooms after 10-hour shoots to practice for the test. Pakistan Military Academy (PMA)

Dananeer was in awe when she talked about PMA. She said that she had visited the place several times with her father because he was an army officer, but it was different being on her own. She played the role of a tour guide for all her co-stars and guided them on the protocols and mannerisms that need to be followed in PMA.

She narrated an amusing incident while she was walking in PMA, a gentleman cadet passed by and said ‘pawri horahi hai’ to which she was surprised that people recognized her even in PMA, even when she was wearing a hijab and was covered in dirt.

When talking about her character’s religious aspect, she said that she didn’t feel that the character was stereotypical rather, it was well written.

She realised she used to take the army for granted and didn’t truly appreciate the effort it took to become an army officer.

When it was time for her to perform the stunt, the cast took a selfie with Sajal and teased her that this is their last picture with her and they would always remember her through that selfie.

On Achieving Fame & Her Take On The Entertainment Industry

The media industry is not what people think it is, rather, it’s a good place! She realized that all actors are just human like her and gradually, she felt more comfortable.

She narrated an incident where she went to a birthday party where people from the industry were very appreciative of her talent.

However, she mentioned that it’s a bit disheartening that what you bring with you (your influencer power) counts as your value. Not what you are inside.

Dananeer likes to count her blessings and understands that life is never perfect for anyone. She described how she felt at times about the negative trolling because of her popularity.

She also described an incident where during an interview she was asked a question in the game of date, kill, and marry where she chose the option of marrying Bilal Abbas. The next day after the interview was released, she saw news publications spreading rumors that she had agreed to marry Bilal Abbas which led to a lot of awkward situations for her and her family.

The Significance Of Family In Grooming An Individual

Dananeer eloquently explained that her family is responsible for all the confidence she has today. As a child, her father would value her opinions and would treat her like an adult. She also mentioned that she would be given books as gifts from her aunts and she would read them past her bedtime, hiding under a blanket with a torch. She added that she also got to travel both in Pakistan and abroad, which helped her to grow as a person. But she believes that strong willpower is what allows you to grow as a person. Another thing she mentioned that was very significant in her upbringing was the spiritual and religious training. She explained that she was taught to read Quran and was encouraged to offer namaz on time.

She mentioned that she has a slight obsession with British culture and had read Pride and Prejudice six times. What fascinates her most about that story is the idea of selfless love

Her Views On Marriage

She is open to the idea of an arranged marriage but wouldn’t rule out a love marriage either.

She said that the negativity associated with marriage is rightfully so because of the examples of unhappy marriages we see in our daily lives. She believes that it is necessary to give women equal rights in marriage and give them a say on how to run a household. She acknowledged that today’s generation is much more aware and men of this generation want to break the generational toxic cycle and want to give women around them more rights.

Moreover, Dananeer added that it is necessary for women to be educated as it creates awareness.

It is necessary for men to promote and encourage women in their lives to receive education and then pursue a career if they want to.

When talking about women who focus only on their husbands and marriages, she explained that only those women who are never given an identity and told that they are individuals too, think that their husbands are their identities and they must be prioritized above anyone else.

In the end, she concluded that she wants a person who is understanding and does not make her choose between her career and him.

Acting And Career

When asked about doing further projects for dramas and movies, she said that she will only choose a script that puts a message across and would not participate in a project that goes against her beliefs for e.g depicting violence in dramas.

She plans to do CSS and right now is working on her university degree. She enjoys Business and Biology and is planning to launch a skincare company in February.

She concluded with a statement that the content produced, whether it is about fashion, cooking, or mental health, must add value to someone’s life.
