Dobara – Should Dramas Use Harassment So Often To Progress The Storyline?

We can’t decide if we are disappointed, sad, or in plain disbelief to note how a great concept & storyline was just reduced to a compilation of the same old ghissay pittay plot twists. Scroll down to catch up on Dobara.

Dobara

Will Mehroo never grow up, never depict any maturity? We expected her to handle this situation with more wisdom. Should dramas really portray harassment accusations so often & employ them to progress a storyline without much thought about how they are normalising the act?

Mahir Confuses Us

Mahir – a character who could have held so much potential, but alas, is now a confused soul for us. The creators showed him to carry some grey areas & manipulative behaviour towards Mehroo, in anticipation of obtaining her trust (and wealth), but now, all of a sudden, he wants to test Mehroo’s love for himself, really? Paisa chahyay ya pyar bhai? If he has fallen for her, we sure didn’t experience this journey. Is he good, bad, grey, we can’t tell, because he seems to be as confused as we are.

Affan actually showed more logic this time, contemplating how a girl can risk her reputation?

Phuppo Turns Out To Be Super Evil!

Phuppo’s character has turned out to be super evil and that too, with a tasbeeh in hand! Hmm, again, disappointing, since her actions aren’t really gelling with her character. She was previously made out to be mean, but not evil & sazishi.

We are frustrated at Shano failing to utter a single word in Mahir’s defence. Mutlub saaray waqat chup rehna tha? And we are just like… what WAS that? Point to ponder – how can Shano not own a phone in this day and age?

The dialogues between Mahir & his friend brought a smile to our face.

Growing Disappointment

Mehroo jee, apnay bachay or mian chór ker aap Jehangir sahib ki teemardaree mein paree hain? We are super confused.

Last but not the least, Why oh why did the drama have to incorporate so many sidetracks and sazishein, moving away from the main topic – age difference in a marriage. Why couldn’t we witness some real problems such couples could face in society, amidst family and between each other? Disappointed much?

What are your thoughts on Dobara?
