The most awaited critically acclaimed event of the year and we wouldn’t have some great moments to relish. That’s a hard miss. With jokes lingering on from last year’s slap gate, we hoped for a better year.
It’s safe to say, we can now report to you our top moments from this year’s Oscars. Apart from being visibly dominated by Asians and their achievements, Oscar’s 2023 gave us some more noteworthy events. South Asians and Asians clearly dominated this year’s Oscars

1. No Longer a Red Carpet? Some Things Are Best Left Unchanged!
Well, the Oscars didn’t roll out their scarlet red carpet this year in a bid to try something different breaking with 62 years of tradition. The result, which in turn was seriously underwhelming, so many gorgeous white and cream gowns were mellowed down to dullness without any contrasts. And twitter users can’t help but notice how awfully dirty the champagne carpet turned out to become. The beautiful white and cream gowns Florence Pugh, Ana De Armas and Sofia Carson wore were just underwhelmed and that was just sad.
2. Lady Gaga’s Maverick Switch Over
A swift switch over from her fabulous Versace gown and red lips into a plain black t-shirt, ripped jeans and a no makeup look to woo audiences with a soulful performance of her nominated song: “Hold My Hand” from the blockbuster movie, Top Gun Maverick.
3. Audiences Sway To Hit South Song Naatu Naatu
Deepika Padukone took to the stage to announce a special performance of “Naatu Naatu” an acclaimed song from the global hit telugu action-drama RRR. The song also bagged the “Best Original Song” award the same night. The performers were Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairave and the performance left the Dolby theatre euphoric.
4. Rihanna “Lifts Up” Audiences Causing Frenzy All Over Again
Post her super bowl halftime show and announcing her 2nd pregnancy RiRi returned to the stage at the 2023 Oscars. The audience reveled with her “Lift Me Up” performance of her single from Black Panther: Wakanda soundtrack while being literally lifted up on a platform.
5. Michelle Yeoh Made Everything Everywhere History, All At Once
Michelle takes a 20 year leap. The last time a woman of color won an Oscar was 20 years ago and Michelle Yeoh not only beat that but made history becoming the 1ST Asian woman to win an Oscar. She won for her role in the multiple award grabbing movie “Everything Everywhere All At Once” in which she acted the role of Evelyn Quan.
6. In case you Missed It
Malala Yousafzai adorned a sparkling silver sequined Ralph Lauren gown shone like the star she is, attending the Oscars as executive producer of Stranger at the gate documentary/shortfilm which was nominated.
7. Malala Meets Riri, the Queen of Pop
Twitteratis didn’t even think this was what they needed, a sweet moment shared between Malala and Rihanna as her husband looked on so proud of his wife.
8. Asser Malik Giving Every Husband Goals!
If you want to win a girl’s heart, walk the red carpet like Malala‘s husband Asser Malik who held her gown and facilitated her moment to shine as bright as the brightest star at the Oscars 2023!
