Is Aliya a girl confused between two choices or has the script of Kuch Ankahi has gone wrong in an attempt to show this and has ended up showing Aliya as an opportunist who became confused the minute a better opportunity came along?

Drag Drama
We are a little disappointed that, like a majority of Pakistani Dramas, Kuch Ankahi also chose to drag the final 3 episodes and will be wrapping up “ek dum sey” in the last episode. Why couldn’t we see the journey of Aliya, Salman, Asfar and Saif better executed rather than all of them coming to their senses in the last episode?
Aliya’s Confusion
So, Aliya refuses to give a clear answer to both Salman and Asfar? Is it fair to either of them? Shouldn’t she at least respond that “I am thinking about it, or I need time”?
Initially it seemed Aliya is hurt and indignant about the assumptions Salman is making about her, it is perhaps her unspoken expectations from him which are not fulfilled that is making her react, but her sentence “I also don’t know what is confusing me” makes her look like a person who can change her mind once a better opportunity presents itself, a person who, rather than figuring it out with Salman, might think about taking the other route?
Kuch Ankahi most probably, wanted to show that a girl can have two choices and can take her time to decide, which is justified. But not when you have led on one person and not made things clear to him. In real life this might actually happen, but the drama is supposed to guide young minds & show the path. That doesn’t seem to be happening here. Salman definitely doesn’t deserve this attitude and confusion from Aliya.
If Aliya says yes in the final episode, and Salman accepts her then we are giving the message again that; be patient, be persistent, accept things which might not be appropriate or right, because in the end things will work out. Do we really want to give this message to young, impressionable boys or girls?
One thing we are really happy about is Aliya’s dialogue “I have earned this money; Asfar has not done me a favor”. When you know you deserve something, no matter what anyone else believes. It could have been even more impactful if Asfar could have uttered a similar line.
Why has Asfar summoned Salman to his office?
Afsar’s journey is heartwarming. It is nice to see him coming around & letting go of his grudges against his father. It would have been more impactful however, without involving a love angle with Aliya.
Wouldn’t the story and relationship issues be better highlighted without it being a love triangle, which, unfortunately, took away the individuality Kuch Ankahi could have enjoyed further. Well, let’s face it, we all have so many issues to deal with without there being a 3rd person or any added confusion in our lives.
Shagufta & Saif
Shagufta seems to have made up her mind to restart her life and pursue acting. She also seemed more at peace and pleasant after this decision. Though this means Saif might go back to Samiya…
Why doesn’t Sofia want to marry?
Why is Sofia Phuppo saying no and even after agreeing to marry, she is showing her protest. It would really help if Kuch Ankahi would show her reasons for hesitating as well – a narrative many women who choose not to re-marry would have connected with.
