Is the title of the drama sounding familiar to your ears? Who else remembers the Indian drama Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi which aired on Sony TV Asia and won the nation’s hearts? This drama is being celebrated again after five years. Sony TV is airing it for the second time & despite its huge success and fans are still adoring every single moment.

Some rumours are sending out hints of a season 3, Sony TV decided to air the first two seasons of the drama again. They can be watched on the channel itself and on YouTube. Secretly I have to admit that I am re-watching all of the episodes and enjoying every minute of it! I remember drooling over literally every single aspect of this drama. From the script to the storyline and the marvelous performances of the actors. I still LOVE the choice of Erica Fernandes as Dr. Sonakshi Bose, Shaheer Sheikh as Mr. Dev Dixit and Supriya Pilgaonkar as Ishwari (Dev’s beloved mother).
Erica Fernandes and Shaheer Sheikh are all set to reunite for Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi 3. The makers of the show revealed that if there had been no lockdown, the shooting of the show would have started by now.

Keep on reading to know why I so loved this drama!
The Family Bond And The Struggles
The storyline revolves around the mother of the protagonist Dev Dixit and Ishwari, who is a single mother with four kids. Dev is the eldest and the only son of his loving mother who sacrificed everything for her children. As a single mom she wishes to give her son a proper education so he can become a successful and provide for the whole family.
Whilst focussing on the upbringing and education of her son, she neglects her daughter, Neha, who is deprived of a chance for a bright future and the attention, love and affection a child requires. All the children experience an unconventional youth without a father’s shadow and helping their single mom to overcome her struggles. In the present, Dev is now India’s most successful businessman and the entire family live together in a bungalow.

Dev and Sonakshi’s paths cross when the health of Dev’s mother deteriorates and Dev approaches Dr. Sonakshi who is a dietitian – a private nutritionist – for his mother. Both of the protagonists begin to develop feelings for each other and enter into a relationship, knowing that their relationship will cost them some difficulties. Sonakshi belongs to a Bengali family and Ishwari feels insecure marrying her son to a Bengali girl whom her son is in love with.
The drama depicts social issues like the struggles of a single mother, her insecurity towards her son whom she raised on her own, the struggles of Dev’s sister and the exploration of other family relationships . Dev and Sonakshi face struggles during their marriage, but also show us that when two people are meant to be together, no obstacle can break their bond!
Women Empowerment
The character of Sonakshi is portrayed as a very empowering and independent working woman. She has always given her education and career the utmost priority and her family has never held her back or tried to give her the rishta-talk. Nor did they ever try to impose her into doing household chores. I loved seeing Sonakshi’s character on screen. Not only does she look fabulous in her pretty intricate Indian outfits and make-up, but she also smashes her role as a lady boss.
Moreover, Dev is shown to be a very supportive husband and brother who gives his sisters and wife the freedom to pursue their own career and complete their education. He does not expect them to carry out the typical activities a conventional desi household expects a girl to do. This made the whole story even more appealing to the younger generation.
Oh, and even Sonakshi’s mom Aasha, is shown to be very open-minded & progressive. She also writes novels and is dreaming to be a full-fledged writer. How cool is that!
In season two you will notice how the drama breaks away from the stereotypes and clichés in our desi society. Instead of Sonakshi becoming a housewife and staying home to take care of her children, Dev decides to become a stay-at-home housefather. He even gets acknowledged for it and starts conducting motivational talks in which he encourages the society to come out of their stereotypical norms and start thinking in an empowering way. Way to go, Dev saab, and very well done!
The Romance Between Sonakshi And Dev
I’m not really a big fan of romantic series but, I gotta say, the romance in this drama was next level decent and sweet. I enjoyed watching their cute little moments when they go out for coffee, indulge in small conversations and fight over little things. I prefer watching such light-hearted romantic series in which the romance isn’t the predominant element, yet it warms your heart along with the rest of the story. It’s been five years, but I still haven’t engaged with any other story since Dev and Sonakshi will always be the main jodi for me.

Forever my favourite drama!
I grew up watching many other Indian series but this one has my heart forever! Normally I avoid watching dramas which has multiple seasons but this one me hooked and even today, after so many years I enjoy every single bit of it!
