Qissa Meherbano Ka Episode 1 already has 1M plus views. But … can a stellar cast save a script that could be better executed, at least that’s what the 1st episode made us ask?

The story seems interesting & we can’t wait to discover the mystery behind Meherbano’s sadness.
Some Directorial Why’s
What was the need to show ‘Mehraan ka ghar‘ written repeatedly when it was right next to the door… jub Mehran apni maan kay saath kitchen main baat ker reha hai, to apnay ghar main hi hoga na, and jub his mother is checking the groceries he bought, well….obviously, she’s in the house of Mehran… Just saying.
Qissa Meherbano Ka emits a set of disjointed sequences – from flashbacks to a supposed chemistry between Meherbano & Mehran that didn’t really hit the spot for us. The characters needed to be more fleshed out to evoke emotion or even resonate with viewers. We hope we will be proved wrong in coming episodes & the story reveals itself with full force – there is a lot going for it with the intrigue surrounding the narrative, however, (hint, hint), execution is key to success.
The Performances
Mawra’s performance stands out in the entire episode, though her look could have been slightly less dated. Her presence on the screen takes over the frame every time, there are some actors who can do that instantly, and Mawra is one of them!

Could Noor’s character have been a bit more subtle, so as not to make us feel she is a nuisance, rather than gaining our sympathy? Her character seems to be the voice that pushes & nudges Meherbano to take a stand for herself, but sadly, we are not feeling her to be that voice of reason & encouragement at present.
A Fresh Face
Zaviyaar, carries the monumental burden of being Nauman Ejaz’s son. Unfortunately, his talent might never be judged in isolation. Zaviyaar definitely caught our eye with his performance in the first episode & we look forward to seeing more of him in the coming episodes.

By the way, does he have the keys to Meherbano’s house? Again, just a fleeting thought!
It is nice to see Ahmed sahib in a different role this time – not the overtly caring father that we are used to seeing onscreen.
Qissa Meherbano Ka has sparked our interest, yet been a tad disappointing at the onset – let’s hope Mawra Hocane is not the lone saving grace of the drama!
