Just when we thought Laapata will deliver another sobbing story of nakaam aashiq Shams, Laapata said “na na na meree jaan abhi jana na zara, abhi to hona hai Falak ney Laapata” leaving us with one question: Mummy yeh Daniyal kon hai?

Daniyal sports a gun sling & proceeds to shoot his victim in the same episode, Geeti & Nasreen get the better of Farhan & also make up, despite the very brutal betrayal from Geeti. Falak ties the knot and moves cities in the same episode as Shams is released from jail – Nooo this is not Mission Impossible, that’s still stuck in the pipeline as Tom Cruise battles it out, this is Laapata, which is moving at lightning speed, because, it just is!
Writer director Khizer Idrees is giving us a run for our prime time – yes, we watch both episodes, and with baited breath. The action is packed & the romance is not missing – did you catch the ubtan scene between Falak & Shams?
Needless to say, direction has been creative in giving us wistful flashbacks & dreamy sequences; from Falak wearing a gown at her wedding, and Shams imagining his freedom.
And it’s not just the direction. Characters are developing at a super fast pace (defying Pakistani dramas) – one moment we feel we know Mr. Daniyal, the next moment, we feel he is yet to reveal his true colors!
Geeti makes us want to rethink our moral grounds – but then, she turns around to deliver a resounding smack on the head to Farhan & we’re clapping for her, but should we even be? Because, is she not but as bad as the man who hoodwinked her? Betraying a friend is lower on the moral spectrum than betraying a woman?
Oh well, as we contemplate this week’s episodes of Laapata, we applaud the drama makers’ ability to keep us engaged despite the presence of some very competitive onscreen content! Read on as we give you this week’s review with a song to follow!
Our Thoughts
Was Daniyal too good to be true? Was he giving you uncomfortable vibes since the very beginning?
Does he really love Falak or does he have an ulterior motive?

Falak jee you are so intelligent, why didn’t you investigate more about Daniyal & his family?
Faryaal really needs to stop this interfering behaviour … she is testing our patience by always giving the wrong advice to Falak.

Shams & Falak ubtan scene… wah kiya onscreen chemistry hai! Shams kay saath saath Falak ney humain bhi heraan ker diya. Take a moment to appreciate both Ali Rehman Khan & Sarah Khan for delivering a scene that scored 5 stars on the wow factor! Don’t believe us, go watch it again!
Okay, while we are enjoying the drama, we do wonder if Geeti’s character could have been portrayed better? Is it a lost opportunity?
Is the issue of a friend cheating on her best friend with her to-be husband being trivialised? Can you really forgive someone who is guilty of such a betrayal with a mere apology & then say: let’s play friends again?

We are really confused? Mummy yeh kiyon ho reha hai? Mummy yeh kiyon ho reha hai?
So is Laapata winning as the fastest drama on the block?
