Laapata Episodes In Review: Third And Fourth
The right amount of thrill with careful comedic timings-these could be words in which we describe the third and fourth episodes of Laapata. Once again, the actors blew us away with their performances and needless to say they all looked great according to their respective roles.
Laapata is not just a love story like most of our dramas; instead, it is the story of three separate individuals (who yes, are intertwined through the element of romance) and their journey of growth. The scenes in which they show the three parallel tracks of the characters- one in which Falak is practicing badminton, Shams has gone to gamble and Geeti is making Tik Toks– are greatly executed and rephrase the concept that the drama is about these three.
Tensions Rise As Shams Makes Questionable Choices
Now coming towards the summary of the two episodes. We saw that there is palpable tension in the households of Shams and Falak after Falak’s father refused to give her hand in marriage to Shams. It evokes past memories and the audience is narrated the story of Shams’ father who is not the blood brother of Falak’s father. His story made us connect with him and the previous generation which we often fail to do in many of our dramas. We got to see things from their perspective and how they currently feel seeing their children make mistakes while navigating through their lives.
On the other hand, we saw Shams going for a gambling match and losing a large sum of money to an inspector. He is shown to be in grave danger and has to return the inspector’s money within 48 hours or instead suffer grave consequences. That being said, Ali Rehman’s acting in these scenes was exceptional and he was able to convey a range of wide emotions: from being overconfident when he was winning to a distressed Shams who knows he has lost everything.
Two Strong Female Leads
As Shams battled his own problems, we saw Falak continuing to play badminton and topping in her B.A exams. She is shown to be hardworking and practical and from her scenes with her couch where he continuously encourages her to pursue a career in badminton, we can hope that we will soon see her decide to pursue badminton as a career. However, what would that lead to, we don’t know yet! Will it be Shams? It would be interesting to see.
While Geeti is concerned, she continues to scheme and plot against Shams and Falak and entertains us with her scenes – whether they were with her friend, Shams or her mother. However, this time we saw a really negative or say evil streak in her character which just symbolizes that she will go to any extent to prevent Shams from marrying Falak.
Lastly, it is uplifting to see such understanding between two characters on screen, as is shared by Falak and Shams. The fact that Shams called Falak after running away from the inspector showed how much he relied on Falak. In addition, even after his proposal was rejected by Falak’s parents they handled it with maturity and decided not to give up on one another. This kind of communication and understanding between a couple is great to see on screen. These give us couple goals and an ideal relationship to look forward to! Needless, to say we are anticipating to watch next week’s episodes.
