‘Dobara’ Teasers dropped today and they’ve packed quite a punch! As viewers had previously wondered over the casting of Hadiqa Kiani with Bilal Abbas Khan, but it seems like the story will reveal the answers to all of our questions…
An Older Woman Falling For A Younger Man?
This is the storyline (or seems to be from the teasers released so far). What is interesting is the formula of a widowed mother with a son nearly as old as the man she’s falling for. What’s even more interesting is that the main leads are none other than Bilal Abbas Khan & Hadiqa Kiani – the two sharing the screen together should create quite a stir!
Starring Megastars Who Enjoy A Formidable Following
Hadiqa has proved her talent as Sakina very recently in ‘Raqeeb Se’, quite the force to be reckoned with. Not just that, but her choice of diverse roles is being noticed for sure in an industry where young, rising stars, fitting a certain mould command lead roles. But the question is, will she change all that in just a matter of two versatile roles?
Hadiqa’s character voices the concerns of many women who hesitate to make decisions for their own happiness thanks to a rick solid samaaj ki deewar. “Sarbarahi mardon par jajhti hai”, she goes on to say. Matriarchal society or not, writer Sarwat Nazeer is sending out some messages to a society in transition. Does a middle-aged woman have a life after her husband’s demise? And why does she need to compromise in the choice of a second life partner? “Wafa zindon kay saath ki jaati hai, marne waalon ko dua di jaati hai”. In this case ( as in most) it is not just society but your own flesh & blood who demand answers.
We get to see the up and coming Usama Khan take on Bilal Abbas Khan in ‘Dobara’. Usama put up a noteworthy performance in ‘Ishq Jalebi’ against our very own heartthrob Wahaj Ali and now he’s taking on the other one, namely – Bilal Abbas Khan! There’s something about this young actor that tells us he’s going places!
And last but certainly not least, Bilal Abbas Khan is taking on projects that challenge his territory as a game-changer in the very competitive Pakistani Drama arena. He has won every time so far because he’s had the courage to experiment. Abdullah in ‘Pyar Ke Sadqay’ and then Haider in ‘Dunk‘ gifted us just that. ‘Dobara’ seems to be another promising dive into a character that will surely push the envelope.
Experimenting With An Entirely New Genre
Writer Sarwat Nazeer has enthralled us with ‘Pardes’ very recently – a drama laden with messages that resonated with audiences. ‘Dobara’ seems to be an entirely new genre, yet one that might hit home just as resoundingly of played right. Of course, the onus lies on director Danish Nawaz and the entire team to make it happen… and will they? Danish has just wrapped up a mega Eid hit with Chupke Chupke, and we’re hoping he continues the successful streak with 2 Dobara teasers that seem doubly promising! Only time will tell but we wish them both the best of luck!
