Much of the confusion around eggs arises from the fact that egg yolk contain cholesterol.

Cholesterol in egg Yolk

Now people generally take cholesterol as something really bad for their health. Although it is not true. In reality, cholesterol is a waxy substance that is a type of lipid. It helps in the formation of brain cells, nerve cells, bile acids, preformed vitamin D and hormones. There are two types of cholesterol. One is blood cholesterol (liver recycles this cholesterol in the body) and the other one is dietary cholesterol (cholesterol found in the foods we eat).  With eggs, we are talking about dietary cholesterol. So the cholesterol present in the egg yolk is good or bad for body? The answer to this question is   …

HDL and LDL

“Good”.

HDL collects excess fat from the arteries and transports it back to the liver thus helps in clearing the blood flow in arteries. Researchers have conducted various studies on the consumption of egg yolk in patients suffering from heart disease.

Surprisingly these researches show that people who have consumed 6 eggs per week are most likely to reverse their condition as HDL cholesterol present in yolk helped them to remove plaque from the arteries.

But these researches also suggest that it is equally important to pay attention to foods eating alongside eggs.

If eggs are consumed with white bread and butter or processed meats then it could increase the risk of heart diseases as these foods contain saturated fats (bad fats) in excess amount therefore increasing the risk of deposition of (LDL) bad fat in the arteries. According to researches, bad food combination can be problematic for one’s digestive tract which may lead to fatigue, nausea and irritable bowel syndrome. Here are few foods that you should avoid eating with eggs.

1) Eggs and Tea

When it comes to weight loss, although high protein has been said to get results, the most common diet consumed by overweight persons include steak and egg diet. Eggs are high in HDL cholesterol, good for heart health, packed with essential amino acids and provides satiety it is still not a good option to combine eggs with steaks because red meat (mutton, beef) have been linked to increased risk of heart disease due to their high content of saturated fat. It may increase the risk of certain types of cancer although it is not the root cause of cancer as red meat contains certain components that can trigger certain types of cancer therefore it has been classified as “Probable” cause of cancer.

It is important to note that eating eggs with fish, although a great source of lean protein, can cause allergic reactions therefore it is recommended to eat eats and fish separately at different times of the day.
