Is Ishq-e-Laa Falling Prey To Cliched Narratives?

Hey Ishq-e-Laa not you too! Sad to see Ishq-e-Laa falling prey to senseless deaths of parents in Pakistani dramas. With this being the 3rd death in a row, who do you think will go next in the drama?

Was that threat from Arbab really so lethal that it caused the death of Azlaan’s father?

We Wish Azlaan Would’ve Stayed

Therapist

While we were happy that the drama showed Azlaan visiting the therapist, we were highly disappointed to see him walking out, telling the therapist that “you cannot help” me.

One session cannot change anything. Unfortunately, this depiction of therapy seemed to reinforce the widely held notion in our society that it is useless.

Was Showing Azlaan Getting Therapy Required?

Ghazala Kaifee as Azlaan’s mother

Another suggestion, perhaps the therapist could have clarified to Azlaan’s mom that one session is not enough, Azlaan’s attitude will improve gradually and/or the therapist could also have given a parting message to Azlaan that, she understands he’s not ready at the moment, but she would like to see him at least one more time.

With therapy still a taboo & sensitive topic, maybe it would have been better not to show him seeking therapy at all, just his mother giving him a wake-up call would have been enough, especially since that seemed to have worked.

Content creators have to ensure, therapy/counseling is not underestimated & taken lightly in our narratives.
