Another of HUM TV’s dramas is going to hit our screen soon under the banner of MD productions by the name Ishq e Laa. It will star the supremely talented Sajal Aly, who we are currently seeing in the across the border web series Dhoop Ki Dewaar, Yumna Zaidi, who is ruling our screen as Rakhi in Dil Na Umeed Tu Nehi and also Azaan Sami Khan who will be making his debut in acting with this project. The drama is directed by Amin Iqbal and written by Qaisera Hayat who also penned Alif Allah Aur Insaan. The release date of the drama is still unknown. Amin Iqbal talked about the production process:

“I think this is the first time that a drama is being shot on Alexa, a camera which was largely used to shoot movies and has not been used for television. So the production stands out in that way, You can also expect the method of storytelling through a new lens to be different. We are trying to tell a story that stands out.”

Dum Mastam is a rom-com movie that will be the big-screen debut of two popular actors: Imran Ashraf and Amar Khan who has (incidentally), also penned the story. We are thrilled to see Amar Khan sharing her vision with us through her scriptwriting! She has already written many scripts previously, one of them being Black Wednesday which was premiered at American Film Showcase. Dum Mastam’s ensemble cast has a lot going for it – watch it for Sohail Ahmed, Saleem Mairaj, Adnan Shah Tipu, Momin Saqib and others in significant roles. The film is directed by Mohammed Ehteshammuddin who also directed Superstar starring Mahira Khan and Bilal Ashraf. In addition, this will also Adnan Siddiqui’s debut as a producer. He will be producing the movie alongside Akhtar Hasnain under the banner of Cereal Entertainment. We are super excited about this one!

Nadia Jamil’s Experience At London’s Heathrow Airport

Nadia Jamil recently took to Twitter and shared her experience with British airways.

celebrities, Women's Day- Nadia Jamil

“I have never had such a traumatic & awful experience in my life. Cancer & chemotherapy was easier than [the] treatment I got at @britishairways Heathrow. Abandoned in a wheelchair with suitcases lying all around me. Curt, nasty attitudes. Contradictory requests. Exhausted, drained, depleted,”

Nadia jamil on twitter about british airways

She shared that she was left alone in Terminal 5 with her luggage and there was no one to help her. She was in an immovable wheelchair with three suitcases. She explained that it was impossible for her to go back to Cambridge herself. After hours of waiting her aunt came to her rescue but she was appalled by the crew members behaviour. Furthermore, when her aunt tried to film the staff they took her phone away and asked her to delete the videos.

Nadia Jamil on Twitter:

It takes a lot 2 drain positivity out of me. @British_Airways I v never been so intimidated, humiliated & helpless in my life. Your staff left me 2 sleep alone on terminal 5. How did you expect me 2 wheelchair my self & 3 suitcases back 2 cambridge from Heathrow? Kindness counts!

Many people including celebrities showed solidarity on Twitter. We hope that the issue is resolved and British Airways is held accountable for its actions.

School in Karachi Renamed After Outrage On Twitter

The government of Sindh has decided to rename a school in Karachi’s Mission Road which became known as Malala Yousafzai Government Girls Secondary School on February 6, 2012. The school was originally named Seth Kooverji Khimji Lohana Gujarati School after a Gujrati social worker. SAMAA TV’s Sanjay Sadhwani tweeted on Twitter and demanded that the school’s name should be changed back to its original name as it holds historical significance.

— sanjay sadhwani (@sanjaysadhwani2) July 8, 2021

Domestic Violence Bill Faces Opposition From The Public

A new domestic violence bill was passed by the senate to protect the elderly, women and children who are subject to domestic violence.

The bill states that the act of domestic violence shall be punishable with imprisonment of a maximum period of three years and not less than six months and a fine of Rs100,000 and minimum of Rs20,000 shall be paid as compensation to the aggrieved person. Aiding and abetting carries the same punishment.

However, the bill was opposed widely. It caused many to raise their concerns including actor Osman Khalid Butt who said: “Why is there an extremely disturbing hashtag calling to reject the domestic violence bill – one that’s already passed by the senate? What is so controversial about this bill?

This step was very regressive as a nation and in all honesty why do we feel the need to oppose a bill that has been passed for the protection of the citizens?

Well, with this we come to the end of this week’s news. What surprised you the most? Do let us know!
