Pari Zaad’s First Episode Aired On Tuesday
The first episode of much anticipated drama, Pari Zaad aired on 20th July starring Ahmed Ali Akbar, Ushna Shah, Yumna Zaidi, Mashal Khan, Noman Ijaz and Urwa Hussain. Written by Hashim Nadeem, the story centers primarily around a male and his life struggles – one which we do not get to see often in Pakistani dramas. The story centers around Pari Zaad, who is an ordinary boy left unacknowledged by his family and others. He is sensitive and fragile but has a heart of gold, ready to sacrifice his time for others and offer a helping hand to any one who needs it. The story travels back and forth in flashbacks, setting the pace for Parizaad’s narrative.

The cinematography & direction by Shahzad Kashmiri were on point along with Ahmed Ali Akbar’s portrayal of the character to create a tangibly mysterious aura, and if there were any gaps to be filled in, the ensemble cast was there to do so!
Overall, we were quite pleased with the episode. Read the full review here

Jemima and Maryam Nawaz recent clash on twitter-Do Antisemitic Sentiments Still Prevail In Pakistan?

While the Tokyo Olympics might be on your mind, over the weekend in Kashmir, Maryam Nawaz (Vice president PML-N) made an antisemitic statement in her speech regarding the children of Imran Khan and Jemima Goldsmith. This was in direct response to the Prime Minister’s criticism of her son being able to play polo in Britain.
“This grandson who is playing polo in Britain […] I’ve met so many Kashmiris in London and Manchester, ask them what kind of person can play polo there. They will tell you it’s a king’s sport!” You need a lot of money to keep a horse and play polo. So tell us where this dear grandson got this money from. It’s your [the people’s] money!” – stated Prime Minister Imran Khan.
This advertently made Maryam Nawaz furious who then proceeded to say, “I didn’t want to bring children into it, but the way you’re talking, you’re going to get a befitting reply. He’s Nawaz Sharif’s grandson, not Goldsmith’s. He’s Nawaz Sharif’s grandson, he’s not being raised in the lap of Jews”
Jemima clapped back in a tweet:
Some sided with Maryam while others condemned her statement. But something that needs to be changed for sure is that Pakistani politicians stop using religion in their mud-slinging tactics and actually focus on more pressing issues, such as poverty, unemployment and the rising number of domestic abuse cases. If this is what we’re going to fixate on we can never hope to resolve the numerous issues prevalent in our county.

Jeff Bezos
Jeff Bezos – the world’s richest man – went into space along with his brother and an 82-year-old aviation pioneer from Texas. He travelled on Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket which was glided from remote West Texas on the 52nd anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, a date chosen by him for its historical significance.
Blue Origin was shooting for an altitude of roughly 66 miles (106 kilometres), more than 10 miles (16km) higher than Branson’s July 11 ride. The 60-foot (18-meter) booster accelerated to Mach 3 or three times the speed of sound to get the capsule high enough, before separating and aiming for a vertical landing.

The passengers were expected to get three to four minutes of weightlessness to float around the spacious white capsule. Then the window-filled capsule was going to head to a parachute touchdown on the desert floor, with Bezos and his guests briefly experiencing nearly six times the force of gravity, or 6 G’s, on the way back.

Domestic Violence And Safety of Women
In just a matter of one week, three women suffered unjustly by the hands of men in our society. A woman named Bushra was killed by her husband who was a drug addict named Raza Ali and his daughter Saima had to stand against her own father to raise her voice for her mother. While Qurtulain who was a mother of four children was brutally murdered. Noor Muqadam, who was the daughter of former ambassador to South Korea was killed and then slaughtered by an aquintance Zahir Jaffar.
The loss is unbearable and its devastating effects cannot be described in words. We just hope that these women receive justice and their families find the strength to overcome this grief.
However, what is unfortunate is that there is no end to this daily violence against women. Everyday there is another Noor, Bushra or Qurtulain.
Every women deserves to feel safe and protected. For this it is necesssary that domestic violence bill is passed. And that is only the first step. On a side note, Pakistan has been deemed the 6th most dangerous country for women with a rape conviction of just 0.5%
