Gohar Rasheed – a name we all have been humming ever since Laapata went on air. He has worked in several hit projects like Mann Mayal, Ishqiya , Raaz-e-ulfat and now as ‘Daniyal’ in Laapata.

Needless to say, Gohar Rasheed’s acting is a treat to watch no matter what the character is. Recently, he gave an interview to FUCHSIA Magazine, which made us a fan of his personality too.

Here are 5 things he said in his interview that left us impressed.

1) Setting A Strong Example For All The Culprits

” My only demand, in a very respectable and polite way is that out of all the incidents that have occured with women, atleast through one of them we should set a strong example .”

We talk a lot that women should be empowered, we will do protests, “We will do this, we will do that but what are these actions? What is the real action?” So my only demand, in a very respectable and polite way is that out of all the incidents that have occured with women, atleast through one of them we should set a strong example so that again, no so-called spineless, ashamed-to-be-called-a-man, not even a man I would say …. should think atleast 10 million times before doing any such thing.

2) We Are Becoming An Ignorant Nation

“Curtains have been drawn on our mind, heart and everything. “

One by one these incidents occur, something new comes up and we just close our eyes like a pigeon and get busy in our lives. Let me increase my followers, let me do a hit drama, let me make money- we are not thinking that what am I leaving for the generation after me? When I will leave the world, how much I am responsible for the generation coming after me as of now? I also have to go up and face Allah.

It is said about evil that if you cannot do anything against it so condemn it by saying something, if you cant say then at least consider it evil by heart but here among us curtains have been drawn on our mind, heart and everything. Curtains have been drawn on everything and we are just going on and saying that I want to be number one, I want to give the next hit drama, I want to earn this much money. We are just behind these things and becoming an ignorant nation.

3) “You Have a choice”-Isn’t An Aggressive Statement

” You have a choice isn’t an aggressive statement, it is an idea.”

You have a choice isn’t an aggressive statement, it is an idea. No its not an aggressive statement its an idea, you need to understand this. Believe in this idea, start believing in this idea, start talking this idea very seriously. Start thinking about it, start talking about it – against or for is a different thing just start talking about it. From somewhere or the other, a mindset will develop. When we won’t talk, we won’t bring awareness. Yes, we talk about women empowerment a lot but we won’t talk about how we will inculcate women empowerment in the mindset of our society.

4) We Need To Play A Part In ‘Tarbiat’

” The ‘tarbiat’ we talk about, we all have to play a part in it. “

All the narratives that we our showing through dramas, as per my capacity I can only neglect it but that also would have a limit. After a limit, I will also be forced to do such a drama and even if I don’t do then someone else will do it. So all the content writers, director, producers and even actors have a responsibility in the ‘tarbiat’ we talk about.

The ‘tarbiat’ we talk about, we all have to play a part in it. We all are a part of it. Somewhere, that one child is watching that drama and is getting influenced from it. If he has watched on TV that throwing acid is cool, it is okay and he can get away with it so he will think that it’s no big deal.

5) The ‘Thapar’ Scene

“I wanted to float this idea that yes a woman can do this, a woman can stand up to protect herself and she should stand for her protection. “

The reason behind ‘thapar‘ scene was that I wanted to show the message, I wanted to give the message that woman is also this much empowered or can be this much empowered. I wanted to float this idea that yes a woman can do this, a woman can stand up to protect herself and she should stand for her protection. Depending upon the situation, you should sensibly act. It isn’t important that you have to slap, you have to take action. Don’t suppress and sit down.
