It’s a big gain for the industry to produce quality content with magnificent growth in ideas and execution. There’s much to critique for the audience on Pakistani content but gladly, fresh artists and creative minds are getting platforms with its very own TapMad being the first digital one to outshine their talent and bring grace to our industry. This calls for appreciating mentionable achievements so far;

Arooj Aftab
2022 got to be the year for the Pakistani industry when self-made individuals like Arooj set the bar high winning her first Grammy in the category of Best Global Performance for her song Mohabbat. She gained global recognition for her work that fuses ancient Sufi traditions with folk, jazz, and minimalism.

Ms. Marvel
Who would have imagined a Comic series on a Muslim Superhero along with showcasing talent from our industry as well? Ms. Marvel not only portrays Pakistani culture in the west but also highlights the exciting yet sophisticated elements of a desi household. From versatile casting to catchy songs, Marvel made a significant & indelible footprint right from the premiere.

Coke Studio
A big dip in risk with the revamp of the entire production was a challenge for the team to handle. The effort didn’t go to waste, however as the songs made a special place for themselves in hearts all over Asia and beyond. With a given platform for new artists to explore, Coke Studio created hype amongst millennials and then made a statement with its music videos, experimenting for the very first time outside the studio with live music. Art direction itself left an impact.
Joyland
The debut film by young director Saim Sadiq makes its mark by gaining worldwide recognition as it was selected as an official entry at the world’s most prestigious Cannes International Film Festival. Reportedly the first time a submission from the subcontinent has won an award in the category of Un Certain Regard, receiving a standing ovation at the premiere – a film that sought to address inherent taboos in our society brought immense respect and hope to the industry.

Aik Hai Nigar
The biopic honoring the achievements of Major General Nigar Johar, the first female 3-star general to be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General and the first-ever female colonel commandant of Army Medical Corps (AMC) in Pakistan gains respect in The Netherlands. With Mahira Khan in the lead, the film has also won the category of Best Asian Film at the Septimius Awards.

Wahid Murad Lives On With Gen Z!
What would be better than Koko Korina to represent desi traditional beats? Revival of the great song in Ms. Marvel skips a beat in many hearts. The evergreen anthem for Pakistanis is still a fit after 56 years. Ko Korina by Ahmed Rushdi first came to life in the 1966 film ‘Armaan’ and has been a Pakistani favorite ever since! Not just that but veiled rapper Eva B’s Rozi and Justin Bibis x Hasan Raheem x Talal Qureshi’s hit Coke Studio track Peechay Hutt are also featured in Ms. Marvel and had us vibing to the beats!
