If you’re wondering what 2023 is bringing you that you didn’t have in 2022, well, I have the answer for you. The world of AI – Artifical Intelligence just crept into your home in ways that is not Siri or Alexa, or the inevitable Google Search!

Google Who? 7 Ways This New AI Search Technology Can Power Your Everyday Life!
ChatGPT

ChatGPT is an advanced and the very newest AI on the block, a very ‘chattable’ chatbot that can interact with you as humanly as possible, give you ideas on what to buy your mom, or wife, or husband or teenager on his or her birthday, help summarize your online Google research, lend you a hand with your exam preps, or that paper you haven’t turned in yet for Uni (and without plagiarism). It is also great at simplifying a topic or summarizing a question, eg what’s the best diet, or how to explain a recession in simple words.

ChatGPT is the answer to all your unasked questions, all at the tip of your fingers, and though it will be a paid ride later, since it is in experimental mode presently, there is a completely free version available that you can try out right now.

Another plus? It’s not an app. Just click here and get it on your browser and … chat away!

Intrigued? So were we, and hence we give you 7 Best everyday uses of the chatbot as answered by Chat GPT itself, what could be better?

1. Help With Homework

ChatGPT can assist you with your homework and assignments by providing explanations and information on various subjects. I checked out Archimedes Principle in simple terms, what is a recession, a character sketch on Julius Caesar and even historical notes on 1947. The AI summarizes information in bite-sized chunks to give you just enough background. You can keep asking more questions to tweak your answer and reach more accuracy with every tweak.

It remembers the chat you had earlier and builds upon it, just like you would with a regular person.

2. Help With Research

For those who worry that the bot will lead to plagiarism or reduced effort from students, it is just doing the work of Wikipedia summarized into simple, readable language really, more legible to the average young person.

ChatGPT can help young people with their research by providing information and sources on various topics. And just for fun we gave it Atif Aslam’s Wikipedia page which was summarized beautifully to give us a timeline of the star who’s breaking new ground every year! It can summarize nearly anything or everything you need it to, so you’re prepared for that meeting, or presentation before you walk in the conference room, or classroom. The idea is, that you won’t have to skim through pages and pages of research, but get a summarized, core version of the big stuff.

3. Help With Writing

ChatGPT can help you with your writing by providing suggestions for grammar, punctuation, and style, as well as helping generate ideas for writing.

The bot was able to give me top 10 artists on Coke Studio Pakistan as well as the Top 10 Pakistani movies (information is up to 2021 so far as ChatGPT is in experimental Beta mode), but the possibilities are endless. The more you ask, the more it will tweak the answer as you want it to appear. Using the app is as close to having a conversation with a person as I have come close to on a chatbot!

4. Help With Learning

This AI can assist young people with studying by providing flashcards, summaries, and practice quizzes for various subjects. I got a quiz with answers on the Demand Curve in Economics, how to solve the Rubik’s cube as well as explaining Urdu/Persian poets Allama Iqbal and Mirza Ghalib in ways that speak to the heart, I kid you not. I tried out phrases from Shikwa Jawaab e Shikwa and Mirza Ghalib and I was blown away by the simplicity and clarity of translation.

This is for all those who thought the bot only ‘gets’ English. There are more universes it can traverse and there’s lots more I haven’t discovered yet, I’m sure!

5. Entertainment Tips

ChatGPT can provide young people with suggestions for movies, TV shows, music, and games based on their interests. We asked for the top 10 preteen shows and boy, we not only got the top 10 but with a quick summary of each show. What would a girl want on a weekend?

6. Job and Career Help

ChatGPT can assist young people with job and career searches by providing information on different industries and job openings, as well as tips for resumes and interviews. Not only can you give it your specifics but also request a sample cv to use as a format based on your specifications.

The AI will roll out a simple CV based on your specifications that you can then use as a skeleton to draft out your personal CV. It saves time and also leaves the fine tuning up to you.

7. Mental Health Support

ChatGPT can provide young people with information, resources, and support for mental health issues. You can ask the chat how to combat feeling low and what’s great is, that if it gives you a list of things to do or how to cope, eg, eat a healthy breakfast daily, you can then go on to ask for 5 healthy breakfast ideas, and boom you have a conversation that can move to recipes and more.

Not only does the bot have all the answers you’re searching for in (life)? maybe not, but every day for sure! In addition, since I spent so long making friends with the chatbot, I thought it would be good to know the following:

A Few Tips To get Started On Your ChatGPT Journey

1. Every time you ask it to write on a topic, it will give you a different answer.

No two writeups are the same. So, you can keep asking for more versions till you’re satisfied. And the AI is not linked to Google so no plagiarism there, the makers have fed in approximately 8 million documents and over 10 billion words and ‘trained’ (or more). enough to make it sound like you are interacting with a real person.

2. So if you want to know how to make pancakes, just keep asking the AI to give you another recipe, different ingredients, till you find one you click with. Yes, it’s that easy!

3. It is still in experimental (beta) mode, so you might not get the server the first time, since it’s filled to capacity. It might also ask you to wait at times and you will have to retype your query if the capacity is full so fret not, it is a free assistant after all, bear with it – the winnings are immense, I promise!

4. It remembers the previous conversation, so if I ask for a good caption for this article, I can then subsequently ask, give me 5 more, and it will continue to do so, yeah, what you see is what you get – a full on chat!

5. It’s not just for writers and students (yes, unis will have to change the way they assess student essays once this thing takes over the world).
It can also help learners by explaining complex topics in simple terms.

Aaah, but that’s what so scary, say some. Technology is dangerous, it’ll take over our universe.

I say, every advancement has a positive and negative. Imagine what the world would be like without prosthetic limbs, organ transplants, and audio books for people who can’t read or are sight impaired? The leaps in technology need to be celebrated but with caution. The AI so far has been recognized, block and reject words or data that can be detrimental or damaging in negative ways. As with every new technology, the possibilities are monumental and limitless.

ChatGPT will leave you in awe of the human brain that devised this mind-blowing genius, however, can it dethrone the ultimate Google Search Engine?

News has it that this is not the only advanced AI in developmental stages. Google has its very own too in the pipeline- so 2023 might be the age we see a leap forward in AI.

Will it connect to search engines like Bing or Google?

It might, news has it perhaps Microsoft might strike a match with Bing but the metaverse is so dynamic presently, that anything or everything is possible at the speed of lightning, so hold on to your seats and sit back for the ride!

Don’t forget to make the popcorn. caramel or salty? ChatGPT will give you both versions along with a calorific count to help you stay fit in the new year!

Note from the makers

It’s important to note that ChatGPT is a tool and the results of its outputs are as good as the data it has been trained on, and the accuracy of the answers will vary depending on the complexity of the question, the context and the available information. Therefore it’s always good to double check the information obtained from it.

We’ve trained a model called ChatGPT which interacts in a conversational way. The dialogue format makes it possible for ChatGPT to answer followup questions, admit its mistakes, challenge incorrect premises, and reject inappropriate requests. ChatGPT is a sibling model to InstructGPT, which is trained to follow an instruction in a prompt and provide a detailed response.
